Business Partners
A strong local education system makes businesses stronger too! It produces a well-trained workforce and attracts new residents and customers to the community. The Maryland Education Credit alliance seeks to strengthen the partnership between Maryland’s business and education communities by supporting legislation that gives businesses a strong incentive to invest in local education.
Our goal is to encourage community investment and stabilization by establishing a partnership between Maryland businesses, the state, and the nonpublic and public school communities. Partnership for Student Education & Community Investment Tax Credit would provide a tax credit for business donations to organizations that support nonpublic or public school students by providing financial assistance that covers tuition and fees (for private school students), books, equipment, uniforms, transportation, tutoring, special education services, or education technology.
Businesses would receive a tax credit against their state income tax liability equivalent to 60% of their total donation to a student assistance organization. Eligible businesses would include C corporations, S corporations, sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability corporations and business trusts. Business would not be able to claim a credit in excess of $200,000 annually.
